Florist or Florist Designer?

A florist typically works from a storefront or online where she sells everyday flowers and plants, in addition to arrangements for special occasions.  A floral designer works from a studio and focuses specifically on custom arrangements for events and special occasions.  A floral designer does not typically carry inventory in a store. Floral designers also will set up and design floral decor on site for events. Working with a floral designer is more personalized and usually includes more one on one communication.

I am conveniently located in Cheverly, Maryland, just East of Washington D.C. in Prince George's County.  I am happy to deliver and set up event flowers for a small fee anywhere in the following areas: PG County, Montgomery County, Howard County, Anne Arundel County, Washington DC, and Fairfax County, VA. Special arrangements can be made for other locations.

The Designer

My name is Kira Barker, and I've been designing floral arrangements for over 13 years.  I love taking a pile of unorganized raw materials and turning them into beautiful bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres and other arrangements.  I enjoy the challenge of bringing my client's vision to life, for whatever the occasion.  I will communicate with you regularly to ensure that I am understanding and creating the flowers of which you dream. I'm not afraid to do something funky, different and creative.  Your flowers should fit your personality.  I can help you achieve that.

Wedding Flowers

I can help you determine what kind and how many flowers are appropriate for your event.  I am also a wedding coordinator and am specifically familiar with flower needs and budgets for weddings.  My goal is to realistically help you have to the flowers you want in a budget you can afford.
